Scripture: Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. – Psalm 55:22

What a great word—sustain! It means to support and hold up. The Bible uses this word to describe God’s care for you. Psalm 54:4 says, “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me” (NIV).

His grace holds us tight and holds us up. And it’s not just you He sustains. Hebrews 1:3 says, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word” (NIV).
God would not have given us life or created our bodies without seeing to the provision of those things necessary to sustain us. If we believe in a Creator-God, we must also believe in a Sustainer-God. When it comes to life’s necessities, the Lord told us in Matthew 6:25 not to worry about these things. If we seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, He will provide them (Matthew 6:33).
Ask God to remind you that your Creator is your Sustainer. If the Lord is your Shepherd, you’ll have everything you need.
God not only created the universe but…He upholds and sustains it day by day, hour by hour…. The Bible teaches that God sustains you and me.
